      Explanation:

      Are you looking for a psychedelic trip? Then yopo might be what you are looking for. Yopo, better known in science as Anadenanthera peregrina, has been used for over 4,000 years by various tribes in South and Central America for its special effects. Amazonian tribes use the psychedelic seeds mainly because of the presence of active substances such as DMT, Bufotenin and 5-MeO-DMT. These yopo seeds are ground and inhaled through the nose by these tribes - the 'snuff' is also known as cohoba.

      Uses:

      Yopo can be used in many different ways, but the best effect is achieved when yopo is blown into the user's nostrils by a second person through a straw or thin pipe. Normally, the effects are then noticeable within 10 minutes and you feel a peak after about 30 minutes. However, many users report that the effects are often still noticeable and palpable up to several hours after use.

      Effect:

      Users report intense visions of life, as well as a change in perception. Many users compare it to entering a dream world. The first report of the effects of hallucinogenic snuff prepared from the seeds of Anadenanthera peregrina dates back to 1496. That's when it was observed by Ramon Pane, commissioned by Christopher Columbus, among the Taino Indians of Hispaniola. "This kohobba powder is so strong that those who take it lose consciousness. When the staggering action begins to wane, the arms and legs become loose and the head hangs," he reported at the time.

      The effects of inhaled DMT and 5-MeO-DMT are relatively short-acting, at around 10 minutes. However, it is the bufotenine present that causes the effects to remain noticeable sometimes up to 3 hours after use. On average, there is 7.4% bufotenine in these seeds, and 0.04% 5-MeO-DMT and 0.16% DMT. Thus, in yopo seeds, DMT and 5-MeO-DMT play a secondary role to bufotenine, which is largely responsible for the effects.

      Side effects:

      Nausea, large pupils, tremors, slight rise in blood pressure and body temperature.
