Without a doubt, Royal Gorilla is one of the most talked about cannabis strains from the US, which has quickly become a favourite among enthusiasts in all states of the country. Her discovery, however, was purely coincidental. Two US breeders, Joesy Whales and Lone Watie, discovered the strain after Joesy's Chem Sis plants accidentally pollinated his Sour Dubb and made it hermaphroditic. We don't know exactly why Lone kept a few seeds when Joesy discarded the strain, but we do know that he later germinated them, perhaps out of curiosity, and what subsequently emerged from the soil was nothing short of the spectacular Gorilla Glue!
The two passionate growers immediately knew they had grown something truly special and were amazed by the results of the first THC measurements. As if an incredible 24-26% of THC wasn't high enough, some phenotypes are said to contain as much as 30%. THC levels of this level have never been measured in any strain before!
As for the name Gorilla Glue, the official story goes that they chose this name for the strain's insane resin production, which kept the two growers glued to everything after working with their new creation. But given the strain's super-relaxing effect, Royal Gorilla is also a perfect name to describe her deeply relaxing body stone, which makes you stick to the couch ("glue"), while her high is sometimes accompanied by uplifting euphoria - making her effect wonderfully balanced.
Royal Gorilla is not immediately a strain you would pick for its yields, which are in fact average - the focus is on bud quality rather than quantity. You can grow Royal Gorilla indoors and outdoors, where she produces huge buds with wondrous lime-green leaves. Thanks to her strong resin production, her leaves become covered in an abundance of trichomes that sparkle beautifully in the sun!
Some Royal Gorilla types contain a THC content of 24%-26%, but certain phenotypes have the ability to surpass this level if grown expertly. She produces a very potent effect that is incredibly relaxing - great for chilling out and reducing stress. What makes Royal Gorilla's high so special, however, is that this relaxing effect is nicely balanced by the uplifting and happy-making high. Its strength also makes Gorilla Glue a suitable strain for medicinal users, who are looking for a strong herb to relieve their symptoms.
A beautifully balanced 50% indica/sativa hybrid, Royal Gorilla has delicious, fantastic earthy and sweet flavours, with tasty undertones of lemon and pine. She is a great-tasting smoke that will not disappoint even the pickiest cannabis lovers.
